Who We Are:

Sustaining Programs and Partnerships on Reproductive Health Transformation (SuPPoRT) is a six-month initiative funded by TJ. Mather in Oyo State and at the Federal level to provide continued technical assistance and institutional support towards sustaining Family Planning gains achieved by Nigeria Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI) over the last 10 years.

Following the significant successes achieved in Oyo State and at the National level, JHCCP no-cost extension (NCE) of the TJM grant for a period of six months (January — June 2021) will continue to support the FP technical assistance hub In Oyo State, through the SuPPoRT initiative using a light touch approach, specifically working with the State Ministry of Health(SMOH), State Primary Care Board (SPHCB), The Advocacy Network for Mutual Development and Progress (AN4MDP) and the Interfaith Forum on key activities and interventions that will further improve the FP landscape in the State, addressing specific intervention areas in Advocacy, Service Delivery, Demand Generation, Youth Development, Research, Monitoring and Evaluation.

At the National level, the initiative will provide support to the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) and the Association for Advancement of Family Planning (AAFP) to strengthen coordination, existing partnerships and linkages as well as organizational knowledge management processes, in such a way that these institutions can perform their reproductive health/family planning stewardship roles effectively. Also, this support will extend to the Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent and Elderly Health + Nutrition (RMNCAEH+N) component of the Family Health Department, FMOH.

This initiative is a comprehensive package of interventions targeted at Urban poor communities, FP Technocrats and policy makers, Adolescents and young persons, Media executives and RMNCHAE+N personnel at Oyo State and the national level.

Goal:

Sustaining high impact practices in FP programming through technical assistance to drive improvements in operational effectiveness.

Objectives:

  • Strengthen existing family planning programs and platforms in Oyo State and at the National level.
  • Provide light-touch technical assistance on key interventions to further sustain the FP gains achieved over the years.
  • Support a comprehensive package of interventions focused on adolescents and youth (between the ages of 15 to 24 years) to build their agency and capacity to make positive life choices using the Community Connect approach.

Our Logo:

The SuPPoRT Initiative’s logo embodies two key areas critical to FP Programming in Nigeria:

1. The National Family Planning Green Dot Logo: the green dots above the “U” and the “O” in the SuPPoRT logo represent the national green dot logo which is the approved means of communicating family planning messages across the country and indicate where FP services can be obtained.

2. Gender balance: the “U” and “O” represent the male and female genders respectively. This projects that both men and women should be involved in conversations around family planning.

Operational Offices:

Abuja: No 10 Aderemi Adesoji Street, off Samuel Jereton Street, (behind Apo Legislative Quarters) Apo, Gudu District, Abuja, Nigeria.

Oyo: Family Planning Unit, Oyo State Ministry of Health, Opposite Sterling bank, State Secretariat, Ibadan, Oyo State.
